Day 8, July 13 - Christ College Cathedral and Museum of Natural History

Today we got to sleep in, which after yesterday was needed. Still, we needed to be up and ready by 9:30. The reason being we were headed to Christ Church Cathedral for Sunday service. Seeing the campus of Christ Church College from the inside impressed upon us just how old Oxford is.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I've always enjoyed going to chapel at Woodberry. The singing and the sermons just enlivens me. This time was no different. The sermon was about the power of prayer. The details escape me, but it's a sermon Dr. Smith would be quite at home giving, I recall that much.

After the service, we reconvened at lunch and planned out the rest of the day. We would read two articles from our binders to prepare us for this week's study of Darwin, and then meet at the Museum of Natural History. The time for meeting rolled around and we assembled in the museum and began.  We viewed displays of the Dodo bird, the evolution of the horse and Darwin's voyage of the Beagle, items that most of us were introduced to in biology last year. We walked in some Oxford megalosaur tracks which are on display on the front lawn of the museum and then got ice cream before walking back to Brasenose for dinner. We read an article about the redevelopment of the London Docklands, and after dinner had a briefing on Monday's trip to London and then watched the Argentina vs Germany game.
